CPU (PROCESSOR)
- This is how fast the brain of the laptop can think, so to speak.
- The important thing here is that you should buy an "Intel Pentium Dual Core" Processor laptop. Do not buy an "Intel Pentium Celeron" or an "AMD Processor" laptop, it does not offer the same performance unless your on a very tight budget.
MEMORY SIZE OR RAM
- Memory is like a desk space. The more desk space you have the more files you can have open on your laptop with out it slowing down.
- You should always try and get the most memory as possible.
- Currently the standard is 2GB expressed as 2048MB.
- I have bought my little sister (Sofia) a laptop for her 16th Birthday ago which had 3GB, 3072MB, which is very good to future proof yourself for at least the new 2 years.
HARD DISK / STORAGE
- Typically hard disk drives on laptops are between 120GB to 250GB.
- The Hard Disk drive really is not important. 120GB will see you through.
- I would advise you to store/backup your documents on an external drive anyhow.
FORM FACTOR
- General rule, the smaller the laptop the more expensive it is. This is because smaller laptops generally have specially made non-standard parts in them.
- Since you will not travel much, the size of your laptop will not matter, which is goof news as you'll save money.
